BRUNSWICK, OHIO—The BEAT (Brunswick Educational Access Television) is an award-winning module run roughly wholly by center and high propagandize students. Since 2000, some-more than 500 students grades 6–۱۲ have created news stories, conducted on-camera interviews, edited, shot, and destined some-more than 2,000 programs that atmosphere on Educational Access Channel 22. In 2011, a students began to take over government of a station.
A tyro organisation from The BEAT on location.
What started out as essentially a video program—with students operative usually behind a camera—has turn a training belligerent to learn about each aspect of production. Our students contingency be proficient behind a camera, be good storytellers and write/produce stories, and be gentle in front of a camera. In return, they get real-world knowledge before they leave high school.
Since The BEAT is sponsor-supported and receives no supports from a city or propagandize district, we work tough to build relationships. That’s because a partnership with The Vitec Group and a brands is so special. In fact, Vitec code Vinten was one of a companies that helped us get started years ago by donating a tripod—and a donations have kept coming. Our whole studio and all on-location rigging came from a attribute with Vinten, and to this day we usually use Vinten and Sachtler tripods—seven in total.
The Vinten tripods are a ideal fit for a studio cameras—JVC ProHD 750s with On-Q accessories—because they can hoop a additional weight. Meanwhile, we use Sachtler tripods with a accumulation of cameras for multicamera sports production, concerts, single-camera shoots to accumulate news and footage, we name it. With Sachtler and Vinten tripods, we have rigging that’s really stretchable in any location. We can simply dump a tripod down, set adult really quickly, and start panning, tilting, and zooming to squeeze discerning camera shots. With obtuse equipment, we would have to recompense for a pans, tilts, and movements, something we don’t wish a students to have to do. Thanks to Sachtler and Vinten, we’re not usually training students to fire good video, though we’re giving them rigging that supports them as they learn.
