October 24, 2016. – Portage and Compute Canada are pleased to partner with a University of British Columbia Library in adopting their UBC Open Collections user interface. This hunt tool has been comparison as a find interface for the Federated Research Data Repository (FRDR) program being grown by Compute Canada and Portage as partial of Canada’s digital infrastructure for investigate data.
The FRDR plan has adopted formula from UBC Library’s Open Collections (provided by an open source permit via Github) as a user interface for a information find member of a FRDR platform. The growth organisation for this project evaluated 3 intensity interfaces and found the UBC formula to be a best documented and a many matched for the design and functionality endorsed in a recently expelled Portage Discovery Expert Group whitepaper.
In a suggestion of open source, a plan organisation expects to minister behind some facilities to a formula base, such as a internationalization of a interface to support French and English, geographic and location-based discovery, as good as an prolongation of upheld metadata schemas.
Portage and Compute Canada assimilated forces to develop a Federated Research Data Repository in January 2016, following a successful commander plan conducted in a summer of 2015. Among a facilities of a repository is a federated horizon to concede a investigate information in Canadian data repositories to be detected from a single, awake hunt engine. At a same time, it will also offer a stretchable repository and refuge estimate for Canadian researchers and institutions who do not have a resolution already in place.
